The Role of Market-Based and Committee-Based Standards
Babson Case Number: BAB078 | Length: 18 Pages
Abstract
This note describes the competitive and consumer need for, the development, and the implications of standards across industries. It offers an understanding of standards developed explicitly through the use of either government or non-government sponsored standard-setting bodies, and indirectly through market evolution. It is intended to be used either in conjunction with cases that deal with standards or as a stand-alone discussion vehicle for understanding the role of standards in the evolution of an industry and their impact on the marketplace.
